FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Critical Thinking Training

Critical thinking is not an easy concept to explain. Some people think that it means you must use logic in your arguments. This is not true. Critical thinking simply refers to how people make well formed, reasonable conclusions about specific facts from accumulated evidence. Critical thinking often involves questioning all the assumptions and arguments drawn before accepting something as truth.

Most education programs teach critical thinking skills. These skills can be taught by using textbooks or taught through online courses. Most of the time, however, these classes do not go far enough. For those who need to go further in understanding the nature of critical thinking, it is advisable to join a critical thinking training course.

The first step in taking up such a course is to find a university or a college that offers such courses. Many colleges and universities offer courses that train students on both the logic and critical thinking faculties. However, you may have to look hard for these trainings. Logical and critical thinking training programs are very rare and far between.

There are many reasons why more colleges and universities do not offer standard courses on critical thinking. One reason is that those who want to take up these courses have to be prepared to pay heavy fees. Logical and critical thinkers often make better leaders because they are able to analyze and evaluate arguments much better than those who do not possess these strong faculty levels.

Another reason why colleges and universities rarely offer standard critical thinking courses is that most teachers who teach these courses are not good at teaching. Even though they might be able to teach the material adequately, their training programs might not be sufficient to mold them into effective teachers. In addition, these teachers will need to spend a lot of time instructing other students on how to use their critical thinking skills properly. Some schools and colleges only hire those who already have a master's degree in hand in critical thinking skills. The number of years required to earn this degree alone is usually several years long.

Most people with strong critical thinking skills are great team players and excellent problem solvers. If you plan to become one of the leaders who can utilize your critical thinking skills, you will have to spend a lot of time in classrooms and training programs. These team players and problem solvers often have trouble making decision on their own. Critical thinking training programs will teach you how to think as a team player and solve problems as a group of individuals. This way, you will not be alone in the classroom; you will be surrounded by people who know how to make better decisions than you are probably able to.

As part of your critical thinking skills training, you will also learn how to communicate your arguments to people with different opinions. You will have to effectively argue both sides of any given argument so that you can prove your point with logic and facts. Communicating with someone who does not agree with you is often a struggle; it is your job to convince them that your reasoning is logical and factual. In many ways, you are arguing with logic and fact rather than people; this makes the process much more difficult.

As you complete your critical thinking training, you will likely discover that you have developed some new skills such as logic fallacies and some logical errors, such as "all men are equal" and "a horse can't lose". However, these flaws will only increase your knowledge and ability when it comes to communicating with others. Other weaknesses that you will probably want to avoid for fear of making a mistake include committing factual errors due to your reliance on facts, your fear of being labeled an "imidigator" by other professors or your reluctance to accept other people's point of view. By overcoming your logical fallacies and cognitive biases, you can succeed in your career and achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.
